1914 Print Susdal Monastery Turret Monastic Prison Saviour St Euthymius XGZ1 Saturday Evening Post " by Alexander BrookThis is an original 1914 halftone print of a turret of the Susdal Monastery in Suzdal, Russia. The turret enclosed the grounds of the monastic prison, which interestingly, once held field marshal Friedrich Paulus of the Third Reich after his surrender at Stalingrad during World War II. After being housed in captivity, Paulus became a vocal critic of the Third Reich regime, and joined the National Committee for a Free Germany. This monastery is
